Club Discussion And Dinner: “Islamic Jihadism – Foundations, Evolution And Its Contemporary Challenge To Western Civilisation – The Lessons For Bulgaria”
September 26th, 2014, Friday
On 26 September 2014, the Reform Union Club held its regular monthly discussion for its members and partners in Triaditsa 1 Hall of Grand Hotel Sofia. The topicality and importance of the subject was in complete unison with the aims and aspirations of the Club to provide its members with thorough expert information ahead of events. Radical Islam, as an increasingly dangerous religious and political phenomenon representing an immediate threat to the foundations of Western civilisation, was the focus of the presentation of Mr. Alex Alexiev, specially invited as a reader at the event to acquaint those present with some popular facts about the genesis, the principles of the expansion, financing and functioning of Islamic Jihadism, as well as with the challenges which the countries in Europe and in particular in the Balkans are facing with regard to counteracting this movement.
Mr. Alexiev is a geostrategic analyst and international security expert and an adviser at a number of state institutions and NGOs in the US on the issue of radical Islam.
