Manager Of The Year 2015
November 17th, 2015, Tuesday
On 17 November 2015, the eighth Manager of the Year award ceremony was held to announce the winners of the contest of the same name organised by Manager Magazine. In keeping with tradition, the prestigious event for high achievements in business management was held at the Sofia Opera and Ballet. This year, the winner of the contest was Mr. Peter Andronov, CEO of CIBANK and country manager of КВС for Bulgaria. He received the prestigious award from the hands of the President of the Republic, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, who announced that he will invite the Manager of 2015 to participate in the development of the National Development Programme 2020-2030. In his thank you speech, Mr. Andronov pointed out that the capacity for self-criticism and self-irony are among the healthiest characteristics of the successful leader. He also said that “the ability to learn from others as you’re climbing up the ladder is a sign of wisdom given to a few people. But it’s also an advantage which takes them to the fore. I try to learn from everyone, be it a superior, subordinate, colleague, rival, someone who lived in another time. I try to learn from everyone and I think that as the years go by I am more and more aware of this. Now I strive even harder to learn from everyone, regardless of who they are. I fight not for ideas but for people with ideas.” At the end of his speech, the new Manager of the Year quoted a few verses of one of his favourite poems by Walter D. Wintle, translated by [Bulgarian writer] Ivan Vazov:
“Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can!”
