Club Meeting And Dinner With H.E. Xavier Lapeyre De Cabanes – Ambassador Of The Republic Of France To Bulgaria

On 17 September 2015, the Reform Union Club held its regular monthly meeting for its members and friends in the Triaditsa 1 Hall of Grand Hotel Sofia. The topic of the meeting focused on the potential and aspects of interaction between the Bulgarian business and the foreign diplomatic representative offices in Bulgaria for promoting partnership with foreign companies and the realisation of strategic business contacts and initiatives. The French Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes, had been kind enough to accept the Club’s invitation and was the special guest at the event. In the expose which he presented to those present, the Ambassador outlined the main mechanisms through which foreign diplomats could assist the strengthening of the economic ties between two countries and the establishment of strategic business contacts between foreign and Bulgarian companies. According to him, the determining factors for success along these lines are trust in the institutions and sharing of common values. Ambassador Cabanes sees the figure of the diplomat as a mediator who directs the process of establishing goodwill between two countries by assisting the awareness and elimination of existing obstacles hindering the economic, social and cultural relations between them. During the discussion, problems in key sectors in the Bulgarian society were also addressed as well as the need for palpable reform which would act as a catalyst for foreign investors.
At the close of the evening, Ambassador Cabanes expressed his thanks for the fruitful discussion and his readiness to host one of the forthcoming meetings of the Club which would be held at the Embassy Residence.
